Governor Rauf Aregbesola of Osun State, on Wednesday, begged religious leaders in the country and the generality of Nigerians to pray for the quick recovery of Mr. Yusuf Buhari, son of President Muhammadu Buhari, who was involved in a motorbike crash late last year.

Aregbesola made the plea while addressing the people at the closing ceremony of the 19th edition of Annual National Conference organised by the Jama’atu Ta’awunil Muslimeen (Society of Nigeria), held at City Hall, Iwo‎, Osun State.

The governor, who observed that the call was imperative as part of the efforts to support the present administration in the country, said: “The comfort of the president is the comfort of all.”

Yusuf Buhari who is currently receiving treatment had an accident on his motorcycle in Abuja, while trying to outsmart his friend during a ride in the Federal Capital Territory (FCDA).

While describing prayer as the only instrument that can rescue Nigeria from some her predicaments, Aregbesola also called on religious leaders to dedicate prayers for president Buhari, his sick son as well as for the socio-economic prosperity of the country.

According to him, “aside from the fact that prayer is powerful to our existence as human beings, it behooves on every believer to pray for his or her leaders. I am happy that every religion emphasises this, and as it is, something important we can do to support the present administration is to pray and fast for the leaders.”

“As we all know the condition of President Muhammadu Buhari’s son, I urge Nigerians, regardless of our socioeconomic, political and ethnic differences to pray for the quick recovery of Yusuf Buhari who is currently recuperating.

In their separate ‎remarks, the Oluwo of Iwoland Oba Abdulrasheed Adewale Akanbi and a renowned Islamic scholar, Sheik Imran Daood Molaasan commended Aregbesola for taking a bold step to reviving the socio-economic fortunes of the state in spite the adverse effect of the present harsh and hard economy.

Oba Akanbi described Aregbesola as a rare political gem whose position as the governor of the state had been ‎faithfully explored to reposition Osun, adding that the state had in the last seven years witnessed unprecedented development, particularly in the areas of road, security, education, agriculture and health infrastructure.
