Praise singers, hawkers, horse riders, others take over PDP despite total ban

THE venue of the Elective National Convention of the Peoples Democratic Party, Eagle Square, Abuja was yesterday taken over by praise singers, hawkers, horse riders and physically challenged people among others de‎spite total ban on such activities.

Consequently, the arena became uncountable for combined team of Security Agencies on ground comprising, the Police, Dss, Civil Defense and others

The praise singers wearing different attires, drumming in support of the aspirants defied all threats by security personnel.

Various groups were also seen dancing round the Eagle Square in praise of some presidential aspirants in 2019 General elections with their posters in different colours

Some of the Presidential aspirants whose posters, T- shirts ‎and banners were in display include : Ibrahim Dankwanbo of Gombe State, Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State, Sule Lamido of Jigawa State, Ibrahim Shema of Kastina State, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and a host of others.

All the gates leading to the arena except the main one were firmly locked while artisan dogs belonging to the Civil Defence were later brought to the main entrance to dislodge thousands of people who were trying to force themselves in.

Also, horse riders dotted the venue displaying on their horses dressed in the Party’s colours while physically challenged people were not left out.

‎Hawkers of various wares from the different parts of the Country were also seen in and outside the venue displaying their wares for sale unchallenged.

The chairman of the Convention Planning Committee, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State had earlier announce the total ban of displaying banners and posters ‎ of Aspirants, drumming, dancing, hawking and other acts characterized previous convention citing the recent Security alert raised on Abuja and others States in the Country

Okowa also indicated that accreditation for the delegates, the Press and others coming to the Convention will be totally controlled to ensure that people with no business would not come around
