For the second time in a week, the members of the Kogi State house of assembly on Wednesday forcefully adjourned their sitting due to excessive heat in the chamber occasioned by power outage.
The members, who had converged on the chamber, had to end the sitting unceremoniously as they could not withstand the effect of the heat.
The epileptic power supply to Lokoja, the state capital has made the assembly to rely on generator to power the buildings in the complex.
But the only power generating set being used was said to have developed fault and was not responding to repair.
When the members reconvened for legislative business on Wednesday, the majority leader, Mathew Kolawole, had to move for an adjournment without dealing with the items on the order paper.
The lawmaker, who could not hide is feeling on the stuffy nature of the chamber, said the atmosphere was not conducive for legislative activities.
The development however prompted the Speaker, Rt Hon Ahmed Imam, to rule on the suspension of the three motions that were scheduled for deliberation for the day.
The Assembly resolved to reconvened today (Thursday) with the expectation that the power outage leading to excessive heat which had previously stalled their sittings would have been fixed.
Source however told Tribune Online that the power situation in the house was becoming an embarrassment to the assembly.
The lawmaker (names withheld) said the only generator serving the complex was as old as the assembly, adding that the complex should have more than one generator.
