POWA disburses COVID-19 palliatives to widows in Jigawa

THE Jigawa State chapter of the Police Officers Wives Association (POWA) has disbursed Covid-19 palliatives to its widow members.

Distributing the palliatives to the beneficiary, the chairperson Jigawa Police Officers Wives Association (POWA), Mrs Maryam Usman Gomna said, “a total of 100 widows were to be benefited from the gesture.”

Gomna explained that “the palliatives are 100 packages of food items that were donated by the Jigawa State government to the police command, aimed at relieving the suffering due to the COVID-19 pandemic.”

According to her, “this association (POWA) has resolved to give food assistance to the widows among them who lost their husbands in the course of doing their jobs.”

She said there are over 400 widows in the command. She said 100 were selected for this batch, and more widows will be reached as more palliatives arrive.

The chairperson also commended the state government, the commissioner of police, the executive members of the association and general public for their support.
