Portable loses over 100,000 Instagram followers after controversial protest remarks

Controversial street pop singer Habeeb Olalomi, popularly known as Portable, has faced widespread backlash and a sharp decline in his Instagram following after making contentious remarks about the ongoing protests in Nigeria.

In a viral video, Portable claimed that there were no protests in his hometown of Sango, Ogun State, and criticised the protests, suggesting that those participating were “bad people” deserving of the same fate they are protesting against.

He mentioned that previous protests had been ignored by the government, leading him and others in his area to focus on their daily lives instead.

Portable’s comments sparked outrage among fans and the public, resulting in a substantial drop in his social media following.

Within 12 hours of posting the video, Portable lost 100,000 Instagram followers, with his count falling from 2.9 million to 2.8 million.

Many fans warned that they would unfollow him if he continued making such statements, and a significant number followed through on their threats.
