Kola Balogun
The Senator representing Oyo State South senatorial district, Senator Kola Balogun, has stated that Nigeria will remain stagnant and underdeveloped if its people continue to give political colouration to noble intentions and progressive ideas.
Senator Balogun was speaking at the senate plenary session on the state of insecurity in the country.

The senator wondered why a noble intention like Amotekun initiative was being linked to a planned secession bid adding that: “The Amotekun philosophy is the South-west governors response to the yearning and aspiration of their people in relation to the prevailing state of insecurity in the area.”
While noting that Nigerians looked up to the Senate as an important part of government that could find a solution to the present insecurity, he said there is need for the lawmakers to quickly address the problem.
“There is no doubt that the present security architecture is defective and hopeless, therefore I am in support of regional intervention, I am in support of state police and community policing, whatever name it is called, and can even be optional as some colleagues have suggested.”
He concluded his submission by soliciting for more funds and encouragement for the police.
