Political stalwart, former minister, Adamu Ciroma, dies At 84

Nigeria’s former Minister of Finance, Malam Adamu Ciroma, has died in Abuja.

Although no details of the cause of his death has been released by his family in Pitiscum, family sources say he had been I’ll for some time.

The 84-year-old chieftain of Fika emirate was also a former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria.

Ciroma who spent most of his senile years at the Kaduna Abuja axis with political associates died in an Abuja hospital on Thursday after a protracted illness.

Ciroma was a political heavy weight in his own right and a founding member of the People’s Democratic Party PDP in the class of the late Chief Solomon Lar.

He served as Minister of Finance in the government of President Olusegun Obasanjo from 1999 to 2003.
