A member of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Musa Wada, has warned political jobbers and blackmailers to leave the former minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Malam Muhammad Musa Bello alone.
Chief Wada however said that those instigating probes against the former minister are only out to confuse the current minister of the FCT Minister, Barrister Nyesom Wike of chasing shadows, maintaining that Mallam Bello record in public service remain unblemished.
According to him, a faceless Online publication had claimed that the current FCT minister is planning to invite the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) to investigate his predecessor, Malam Bello.
The imaginary probe, according to the faceless online report, was in relation to irregularities in the award of contracts and other such matters, he said.
Though Barrister Wike had in a statement by the director of press in the minister’s office, Anthony Ogunlewe said the reports were “entirely baseless and without any merit whatsoever.”
He further stated that Wike, during his routine inspection of various projects within the FCT, had indeed expressed concerns and frustration regarding irregularities observed in the procurement and execution of certain projects, among other observations which he publicly expressed.
According to him, “At no point did he contemplate or authorise any action by anyone within or outside the FCT Administration to invite the EFCC or ICPC to investigate the former FCT minister in connection with these or any other matters.
“The online story in question is nothing more than a product of the imagination of its authors and is clearly designed to mischievously sow discord and confusion among the general public.
“We view such misinformation with great concern and urge the public and well-meaning Nigerians to exercise caution and discernment when encountering such unfounded reports”, he stated.
To this end, Chief Wada called on the current FCT minister to continue with his agenda of changing the face of FCT to a better Federal Capital Territory that all and sundry will be proud of.
“At a time like this a lot of things will be happening, a lot of people will be out to create more enemies for those in positions of authority in other to butter their own bread not for the love they have for them. Calling the minister of FCT to unleash EFCC and ICPC on his predecessor is just too childish when there is no petition to that effect. Thank God Barrister Wike is a thoroughbred politician who knows such antics”, Chief Wada stated.
