The senator representing Bayelsa East Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Senator Ben Murray-Bruce, stated this at a press conference in Yenagoa.
Bruce said though the Police is yet to give report on the number of casualties during the attack, there’s need for the Inspector General of police to deploy more police officers to protect lives and properties as the 2019 general election approaches.
“The attack is not only barbaric, but it also is not healthy for our young and developing democracy. That is not how people should play politics.

“I raise this matter on the floor of the National Assembly because when I visited, I noticed the police station is in a deplorable state and their accommodation is not good for law enforcement agents. I hereby call on the government to invest more in the police.”
Also speaking, the chairman of Brass LGA, Hon. Victor Isaiah, said the gang armed with AK-47 riffles was led by one Abie Kosubo from Rivers State.
“When the gang got to Brass Island, they opened fire on the DPO and his men, then gained access to the PDP secretariat, burning down valuable properties belonging to our party.
“This is not the first time. What they do now is attacking homes PDP members in an attempt to chase us out of the town. We appeal to the IGP to come to the aid of the people Brass as the APC is taking their quest to take over power too far,” he said.
