Police yet to receive Mohbad’s autopsy report after two months

Published by

The Lagos State Police Command has stated that it has not received the autopsy report for the late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, also known as Mohbad, which was conducted two months ago.

Mohbad’s demise on September 12 stirred controversies in Nigeria and beyond, prompting the police to initiate an investigative team to ascertain the cause of the singer’s death.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, had announced in September that the autopsy had been completed, and they were awaiting the results.

Recall that in October, the then Commissioner of Police, Idowu Owohunwa, identified prime suspects connected to the singer’s death.

He revealed that Mohbad vomited and developed goosebumps after being injected three times by a nurse named Feyisayo Ogedemgbe on September 12, 2023. Some of the suspects were subsequently charged to court.

Last Friday, the state Police Command released singer Azeez Fashola, popularly known as Naira Marley, and Balogun Samson, known as Sam Larry, after they met their bail conditions.

They were arrested as part of an investigation into Mohbad’s death following the circulation of online videos showing assault against the late singer.

When one of PUNCH correspondents asked on Monday about the release of Mohbad’s autopsy report, Hundeyin revealed that the command had not officially received the report.

He stated, “The autopsy report has not been given to us. Some people have been spreading rumours that it’s ready. It’s one thing for it to be ready, it’s another thing for it to be given to us officially – that we would receive and sign a copy that we have received it. So, we don’t work with rumours; we work with facts.”
