Police uncover suspected criminals’ hideout in Kano

The Kano State Police Command said it had arrested 12 suspected criminals including five females who have been terrorizing Kano residents.

The Public Relations Officer of the command, DSP Magaji Majiya, disclosed this while briefing newsmen in Kano on Monday.

Magaji said the suspects were apprehended at Maidile Quarters in Kano metropolis on Saturday, April 22, following a tip-off.

According to him, the operation to the criminals’ hideout was led by one DSP Nasiru Gusau of Sheka police Division, Kano.

Majiya said among the items recovered from the suspects include three knives, two scissors, three solar panels, drugs, one Jincheng motorcycle, some quantity of indian hemp, cough syrups and sticks.

According to him, a good samaritan blew the whistle on the house where the suspects were arrested in the place.

He explained that the suspects were believed to have been terrorizing the residents of Gandu, Tukuntawa, Ja’oji, Unguwar Geza, Sabuwar Mandawari, Tudun Maliki and Shagari Quarters in the metropolis.

“The suspects were terrorizing their victims during the day and night, by extortion, attacking tricyclists and other numerous heinous acts in the area,” he said.

“Majiya said the suspects confessed to have carried out the acts and further investigation revealed that the house was allocated to them by an elder to one of the suspects.”

He assured the people of the state that all information given to the police would be treated with utmost confidentiality.

He also urged the residents to be very vigilant and expose activities of criminals.
