Police shoot down fleeing robbery suspects, arrest 2 in Delta

Two fleeing robbery suspects were, on Thursday, shot dead in crime-prone Agharho, Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State.

Tribune Online gathered that the suspects had dispossessed some unsuspecting victims of their belongings on the busy Petroleum Training Institute (PTI) Road, Effurun, Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta on Thursday morning.

A surce added that following a tip-off, the police operatives from the Ebrumede Police Division in Uvwie later trailed the criminals to an undisclosed hotel where they were sharing their loot.

Spokesperson of the Nigeria Police, Delta Command, DSP Andrew Aniamaka, confirmed the incident on Friday.

Aniamaka said the suspects were shot dead on Thursday while attempting to escape after they were rounded up at their hideout.

“The suspects were gunned down in their attempt to escape from their hideout after they were apprehended.

“Items recovered from them were: two locally made guns and a Toyota Corolla car.

“All I can remember about the car registration number is LEH 236,” Aniamaka said.

In a related development, Aniamaka disclosed that police operatives from the Ekpan Division in Uvwie had apprehended two robbery suspects and recovered a locally made gun, six live cartridges and a machete from them.

The suspects, he said, were apprehended on Friday morning within the Udumurhie axis of Effurun.

The Command’s image maker gave the names of the suspects as Reuben Clinton (21yrs) and Gift Ughujohwo (32yrs).

He added that the duo were currently undergoing investigations at the Ekpan Police Division.
