The Anambra State Command of the Nigeria Police said its operatives have rescued two victims of a building collapse at Ekeoyibo market, Amawbia and taken them to the hospital for medical care.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, said the rescue was in response to a distress call at about 12:40 pm on Thursday.
Ikenga said on the directives of the State Commissioner of Police, CP Nnaghe Obono Itam, the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of operations led operatives to the scene for on-the-spot assessment and the area has been cordoned off and rescue operations are still ongoing.
“Further details shall be communicated, please,” he noted.
