Idoga who was coming from Benue State was abducted in Ayegunle Akoko when gunmen numbering six pounced on him while trying to urinate.
According to a source, the kidnappers shot into the air to scare the passengers, while Idoga was dragged into the bush by the kidnappers leaving his bus and the passengers.
The source, however, said the kidnappers contacted the family of the abducted driver, demanding for N5m as a ransom for the release of Idoga.
He said the father of the victim, Francis Idoga, a retired Police officer, negotiated with the abductors but could not confirm if the ransom was paid before the abducted driver was rescued.
He said, “Police from Oka Akoko area swung into action and secure the release of the driver, he was rescued in one of the forests in Akoko.”
He said the team of police led by the Area Commander, Razak Rauf, however, secure the release of the victim but said no arrest was made during the operation.
The father her of the victim, Francis, who hailed the state police command for their swift intervention, however, refused to confirm the ransom paid before releasing his son but admitted paying a ransom.
