TWENTY eight people have been rescued by the police in Lagos State from a building, where they were chained and kept by a man identified simply as Emmanuel Adeyemi.
The image maker in charge of the state police command, Dolapo Badmos, confirmed the rescue to the Tribune Online and added that Emmanuel had been arrested.
Emmanuel also told the police that the victims were all mentally unstable and that they were brought to him to cure them of the mental illness
The police were working on reports that a 17- year-old boy had been chained and kept in a room at Oyinbo Unity Estate, Oke Ira, when the discovered another 27 people in bondage.
The arrested suspect had initially claimed that the 17 years old boy, Toba Adedoyin, was his son and that he purposely chained him to prevent him from going out of the house.
Preliminary investigations by the police showed that there were other people, who were chained and kept in different rooms in the house by the suspect.
