Police repositioning to end kidnapping, others in Niger — AIG Zone 7

The Assistant Inspector General (AIG) Zone 7, Adebowale Williams, has assured Officers and Men of the Command that the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) wass repositioning its technical intelligence for more proactive policing to stem the tide of kidnapping, insurgency and other forms of crimes.

AIG Williams, who was on tour of Police formations under the zone, stated this made the disclosure in Minna during his one-day working visit to the state, emphasising that part of his mission was to have first-hand information about happenings in the zone.

While assuring the preparedness of the Police high Command at the Force Headquarters, Abuja to press for improved welfare for its personnel, Williams encouraged them to ensure quick response time to policing, intelligence and prompt visibility policing.

The AIG however warned that personnel found wanting in their duties of protecting the lives and properties of citizenry will not be spared if found guilty of any form of abuse as such personnel would be made to face the full wrath of the law.

While commending the state Police Commissioner, CP Ogundele Ayodeji for being up to the task in adequate policing, Williams expressed appreciation to Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago for donating vehicles to the command which he said will go a long way to ease their mobility problems.

The AIG Zone 7 thereby urged them to take advantage of the ‘Renewed Hope Agenda’ of the present administration at the Centre  as the officers’ welfare package will be given  the needed priority in order to boost their morale and confidence while carrying out their constitutional mandate.

While expressing optimism that the current leadership of the NPF has evolved measures to get rid of all forms of criminalities such as cyber times, Williams said internal security of the country is now guaranteed to resist inter-border crimes to gain the confidence of the masses.

Earlier in his remarks, the State Police Commissioner, CP Ogundele Ayodeji appreciated the AIG for the visit which according to him provided the opportunity to interact with Officers and Men of the command in knowledge and experience sharing in their experiences.

The State Police Commissioner however enumerated some of the challenges of the command to include; insurgency and banditry, youth restiveness, inadequate logistics and manpower and as well dilapidated office structure and accommodation in some Divisional Police Offices.
