Police recover suspected stolen car, other exhibits in Niger

The Police in Niger State have announced the recovery of a suspected stolen black-coloured Golf Wagon and other exhibits found inside the vehicle.

The Niger State Police Command stated that it recovered the black-coloured Golf Wagon with registration number WSE 17 MS shortly after the driver had an encounter with some police operatives, escaped into the forest, and abandoned the vehicle for obvious reasons.

According to a press statement by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Niger State Police Command, SP Wasiu Abiodun, a copy of which was obtained by the Nigerian Tribune on Monday in Minna, “On 4th April 2025, at about 4:30 pm, police operatives attached to Chanchaga Division, while on a routine stop-and-search operation at Alladey Junction, intercepted a Golf Wagon vehicle, black in colour with registration number WSE 17 MS, but the driver refused to stop and ran into the barrier at the nipping point.”

The statement added that the vehicle was immediately pursued by the team on suspicious grounds of being a stolen vehicle, but upon reaching Tutungo Village along the road, the vehicle was abandoned and the driver escaped into the forest.

However, the statement further explained that the vehicle was searched and the following items were found: two goats, some tubers of yam, two knives, brooms, and a bag containing clothes.

SP Wasiu Abiodun noted that the vehicle was recovered and impounded at the Chanchaga Police Division for further investigation.
