Police quiz blacksmith, two others over gun fabrication in Osun

A middle-aged blacksmith, Isaac Alagbe, and two others, Shina Bamgbose and Babatunde Oyebode, are now being quizzed by the Osun state police command for fabrication of single-barrel guns and the sale of cartridges to suspected criminals in the state.

The suspects who were apprehended by the operatives of the command in Ada of Boripe Local Government Area of the state, on July 24, 2024, were also alleged to have unlawful single-barrel guns and cartridges when the police raided their abodes.

The state police command public relations officer, Mrs Yemisi Opalola made these known in a statement in Osogbo.

She listed other Items recovered after the arrest as, 10 single-barrel guns, one Dane gun, three live cartridges, a machete, criminal charms and amulets, borings packed in small milk sachets, a master key, and several instruments used in gun fabrication amongst others.

She hinted; “On July 24, 2024, upon intelligence received that a blacksmith, one Isaac Alagbe, aka ‘Ogun Kofeke’ of Odo Amun community in Ada, had been fabricating single barrel guns and selling live cartridges to suspected criminals, police detectives from Ikirun Division immediately swooped on the location.

“Two suspects, the fabricator and a buyer, were arrested. In the process of the arrest, another buyer (the third suspect) came to the scene on a motorcycle with a Dane gun.”

She however assured that the suspects would be charged in court after the police investigations on the matter.
