Police parade alleged murderers, others in Bayelsa

Towards flushing criminals out of the state, the Bayelsa State Police Command has arrested two suspected murderers, over unlawful possession of tricycles, seven involved in cultism and a suspect allegedly involved in killing, roasting and selling vultures for public consumption.

Speaking with journalists in Yenagoa, shortly after parading the suspects, State Police Commissioner, Asuquo Amba, who lauded the public for volunteering information, urged them to participate actively in fighting crime in the state.

The police boss gave the name of the suspected murderers as, Stephen Ogho-Oghene Akpata, male, 40 years, Moses Otimba, male 47 years, the alleged tricycles theft are Umar Isa, 27 years and Hamisu Isah, 38 years old.

The arrested suspected cultist, who are members of Greenlander and Icelander cult groups were all within the age bracket of 18 and 23 years and have their names as Douye Koufe, Wisdom Reuben, Solomon Jackson, Samuel Odozi, Thomas Canan, Andy Sunny Davies and Junior Japhter.

Amba said the culprit, Stephen Ogho-Oghene Akpata killed his wife, a Glo Staff, Onyinye Faustina Eze, 33 years, residing behind Fido Water Company, in Kpansia suburb in Yenagoa Local Government Area of the state.

He noted that Faustina Eze’s colleague in office reported the incident at the Ekeki Divisional Police Station, as they noticed her unusual absence from work for some days, and when they checked on her they found her residence locked, while her television was on.

The police swung into action, went to the house, forced the door open and found her lying dead in a pool of blood.

The police recovered the following exhibits, three quarter knickers, pair of canvas shoes, one damaged pressing iron, one jean jacket, one pen knife, one pink coloured singlet, a Nokia handset and damaged wrist watch all stained with blood.

The police statement reads: mark of violence on the deceased’s neck revealed that she was strangled with the pressing iron coiled round her neck and stabbed with a knife till she died.

The State police boss, said that Akpata confessed to killing his wife after making love with her at about 0500hrs to 0600hrs after which he started a quarrel with the deceased  over a text message on her phone and accused the deceased wife of infidelity, he told newsmen that Akpata got angry over the message and augment ensued; and Akpata stabbed her with a knife on the neck and shoulder, as she bled and died in the pull of her own blood.
