The Imo State Commissioner of Police, CP Rabiu Hussaini has said that some police officers that were arrested for involving in extortion in the state would be made to face disciplinary action in an orderly room trial (Police Internal Disciplinary Action).
This came as a result of the investigations by the Command into a report making the rounds online, where police personnel were reportedly alleged to have extorted the sum of Sixty Thousand Naira (N60,000.00) from one Victor Aguwah, travelling from the Sam Mbakwe Airport to his home town in Mbaise.
In a statement issued on Thursday in Owerri by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, CSC Michael Abraham, the Commissioner of Police, Imo State Police Command, CP Rabiu Hussaini, condemned the incident in its entirety.
Rabiu confirmed that some Police officers had been identified, arrested, and detained at the State Criminal Investigations and Intelligence Department (SCIID).
The CP said that the officers arrested would be made to face disciplinary action in an Orderly Room Trial (Police Internal Disciplinary Action).
The Police boss said that the Command had established contact with the victim through his cell phone, adding that he was cooperating with the Command in seeing that justice was served.
The Commissioner of Police, while commending the good people of Imo State, assured them of the Command’s commitment under his watch, to ensure that no Police officer found in corrupt practices would be spared.
Rabiu assured all and sundry of making the outcome of the investigation and trial public.
