Two Fulani herdsmen have been arrested by the men of the Ogun State Police command over alleged killing of another Fulani herdsman in an attempt to steal his cows.
The incident, according to a statement by the command’s image maker, Abimbola Oyeyemi, to Tribune Metro, happened at Itadodo area of Ofada in Obafemi Owode Local Government.
The suspects were Abdulahi Anaruwa and Mohammed Suleiman.
They were said to have lured the deceased, identified as Garuba Mohammed, while grazing with his cattle with two of his kinsmen into a nearby bush and macheted him to death on the October 28.
They were arrested following a tip-off by an motorcycle rider who saw them while carrying out the dastardly act.
The DPO of Owode Egba, CSP Sheu Alao was said to have led his men to the scene and the two suspects were arrested.
The commissioner of police CP Ahmed Iliyasu had ordered the immediate transfer of the suspects to homicide section of the state criminal investigation and intelligence department for further investigation.
The CP further warned that crime and criminality would have no place in Ogun State.
