Police nab 3 suspected armed robbers, recover 2 firearms in Niger

Niger State Police Command has announced the arrest of three suspected armed robbers who were said to have been pursued by Police operatives and trailed to a tea seller kiosk around NARTO garage, Deidei Abuja.

This was contained in a Crime Bulleni signed by the Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, (PPRO) DSP Wasiu Abiodun, adding that Police Operatives attached to Tafa Division of the state Police Command while on routine patrol along Lolo Layout, Dakwa area of the Council area responded to a distress call of an attempted robbery incident in the area.

It further clarified that on sighting the Police team, the suspected robbery gang took to their heels with a view to avoiding arrest and prosecution stressing that after a hot chase, the three suspects were arrested.

Those arrested according to the statement include Suleman Yahaya, 21yrs. Umar Suleman, 25yrs, and Khalifa Abdulrahman, 18yrs, all of Deidei area of FCT, Abuja.

Abiodun noted that during interrogation, the suspects allegedly confessed to being members of a robbery syndicate terrorizing Dakwa, Deidei and its environs, emphasizing that they mentioned three others who were at large; and they were Hassan, Lamar, and Bakano.

The Image Maker of the State Police Command disclosed that some of the Items recovered from the suspects after conducting thorough search at the kiosk were; One double-barrel Pump action gun. One locally fabricated gun. 264 wraps of substances suspected to be Indian hemp(Cannabis Sativa) One Cutlass, one Knife, and three Scissors. One white T-shirt and a vigilante shirt.

He however assured that the suspects will soon be transferred to SCIID Minna for discreet investigation while effort was ongoing to apprehend other fleeing members of the gang.
