Police kill notorious armed robber in Sapele

Police operatives in Delta have killed a notorious armed robber after a reported gun duel in Sapele.

The suspect, identified simply as Diamond, but popularly known as Fowlboy, was gunned down during the gun duel while his three other gang members escaped with bullet injuries.

Fowlboy was killed in the gun duel Saturday evening after a distress call was received by the Divisional Police Officer of the Sapele Division from the Tropical area of Amukpe-Sapele that a three-man armed robbery gang was operating at a certain house in Amukpe-Sapele.

The gun duel left Fowlboy badly injured and was reportedly confirmed dead by doctors in a hospital he was taken to by the police.

Items recovered from the suspect included one cut-to-size locally-made gun, a military camouflage, a sweater and seven assorted phones.

Meanwhile, the killing of Fowlboy was said to have led to jubilation among residents of the Amukpe-Sapele area of Sapele who have hitherto lived under the gang’s terror.

Acting Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Bright Edafe, who confirmed the incident, said frantic efforts were on to arrest other fleeing members of the gang.
