MEN of the Ondo State Police Command, would soon commence investigation on the killing of a commercial motorcyclist, Emmanuel Akinola, who was murdered in Ajowa Akoko in Akoko North West local government area of the state, by one of his customers, Kayode Agboola.

The state Police Public Relations Office (PPRO), Femi Joseph, who disclosed this on Monday said the suspect, Agboola, hired the deceased to take him to farm on December 4, where he allegedly killed the victim and took his motorcycle to Ado Ekiti in Ekiti State after dumping the remains of the victim in a bush.

According to him, the suspect dumped the remains of the victim in a bus before heading  to Ado Ekiti, but said that nemesis caught up with the suspect and was arrested by men of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Ekiti who suspected Agboola’s movement  and upon investigation confessed to the crime.
Joseph however said the case was yet to be transferred from Ekiti State Command of the NSCDC to Ondo Police Command but explained that “the suspect and the victims had been customers to each other for quite a long time, but on December 4, 2016, he hired the deceased to take him on his (deceased) motorcycle to his (suspect) farm where he killed him and took his motorcycle to Ado Ekiti where he was arrested by the men of the NSCDC in Ekiti State.

“We are waiting for the NSCDC to release the suspect to us for proper investigation and prosecution.”

He stated that the remains of the deceased had been evacuated from the scene of the killing and deposited at a morgue.

A source in Ajowa Akoko who spoke with newsmen also explained that the suspect who is a plumber in Ikaramu Akoko hired the service of the deceased to take him to a nearby village.

But on getting to the bush, the passenger allegedly killed Akinola and dumped his lifeless body into the bush before taking the motorcycle away.

He called on the police authorities to bring the suspect to book, noting that some people within the community have been trying to sweep the crime under carpet.

He said,” the suspect must not be spared. The murderer who terminated the promising life of Akinola should be brought to book by the power of the law of the land.

“The (suspect) is now in the custody of the police. The world is waiting for the police not to sweep the case under the carpet, as some people have been lobbying to influence the police on the case. This young boy must not die in vain. His killer must be brought to book.”
