A Police Inspector, identified as Ajele Oloyede, was reported to have shot himself to death in Igbesa area of Ogun State.
The incident, according to the Police Public Relations Officer,Ogun Command, CSP Omolola Odutola, happened on Thursday at a ceramic company company, where the deceased police officer was deployed to work.
Odutola said the unfortunate incident was reported by another Police officer attached to the Force Headquarters annex, Lagos, Tolorunloju Stephen, who discovered the incident upon returning from Ikeja around 1:20 p.m.
He was said to have found the deceased resting his head on a table at a facility provided for security officers.

Stephen was said to have asked the deceased if all was well with him, to which he responded yes.
The PPRO said officer Stephen placed his bag and pistol on the table and stepped into the restroom.
Oloyede was said to have shot himself and was taken to a nearby hospital for medical attention.
“With the help of private security personnel, the wounded officer was immediately taken to Ota General Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead by the doctor on duty.
“Police officers visited the scene, and the deceased’s pistol was recovered. His body has been deposited at Ota General Hospital for autopsy, while we have begun notifying his family,” Odutola added.
