THE Kaduna State Police Command on Wednesday said it had gunned down three suspected kidnappers who attempted to bulldoze into the premises of Mother Cat construction company in Mando area of the metropolis.
The Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Administration in the Command, Mr Onah Sunny, made the disclosure while briefing newsmen in Kaduna.
Sunny said the incident that took place on Wednesday at about 05:40 am when the armed suspects’ engaged policemen attached to the company in a shoot out.
“The gallant policemen engaged the hoodlums in a fierce gun duel and repelled the attackers and in the process gunned down three of them.
“During the exchange of fire, two of our men, Insp. Bijimi Maiyaki and Kabiru Shuaibu attached to Operation Yaki sustained injuries and were taken to the 44 Army Reference Hospital, Kaduna for treatment.

“However, one of the policemen died while receiving treatment at the hospital,” Sunny said.
The deputy police commissioner disclosed that items recovered from the hoodlums included four AK 47 Rifles; Eight Magazines with 130 live ammunition, pieces of suspected Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) and a Golf Wagon vehicle with registration number W 812 FST.
He said police operatives are still on the trail of the remaining two suspects who escaped with bullet wounds.
“I want to appeal to members of the public to assist the police with prompt and relevant information on any suspicious movement in their respective neighbourhood so as to ensure effective proactive crime prevention.
“The Command highly appreciates the support of the public and the media in our collective stride to bring down the rate of crime and criminality in Kaduna State to the barest minimum,” Sunny said.
