Police gets new Area Command in Anambra

A new Area Command of the Nigeria Police force NPF has been inaugurated at Uga community in Aguata Local Government Area of the Anambra state.

The Aguata Area Command brings the number of Police Area Commands in Anambra State to four.

The Aguata Area Command was built by the people of Uga through a communal effort to further strengthen security in the area.

The Aguata Area command which was created in 2017, has Aguata, Anaocha, Orumba North and South as Local Government Areas under it.

Commissioning the complex, the state Commissioner of Police Mr Garba Baba Umar said the project would add value to community policing in the area.

Mr Umar commended the Uga community for the feat which he said is their contribution to national security development and applauded a philanthropist from the area, Dr Godwin Mmaduka, for his contribution to the completion of the project.

Speaking at the event, a former Nigerian Ambassador to Spain and a 2019 senatorial aspirant Mrs Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu who appreciated the Nigerian Police in Anambra state for working together with the state Governor Chief Willie Obiano to achieved good security network in the state said, through the Spain government, she donated the first data equipment owned by the Nigerian Police, under Mr Solomon Arase, urging the police in the Command to make judicious use of the facility.

On his part, , the Philanthropist, a US-based medical practitioner who is strongly behind the aspiration of the late Ojukwu’s wife to the Anambra South senatorial district, Dr Godson Maduka, said he identified with the police to boost their capacity to fight crime and restated his commitment to providing the police with logistics and equipment that would enhance efficient service delivery to the people of the state.

The President General of Uga Improvement Union, Dr Anthony Ekesiobi and the President of Uga Youths Comrade Chukwuka Otiocha noted that the structure would help to reduce crime in the area noting that the creation of the Command would further strengthen the Onitsha, Awka and Nnewi Command respectively.
