Police chief hails NAPS over anti-violence campaign

The Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of Training and Administration, DIG Emmanuel Inyang, has commended the leadership of Polytechnic students (NAPS) in Nigeria in recognition of the activities of the organisation that have been making positive impacts on the society, especially security-wise.
DIG Inyang stated this while receiving a delegate led by the Public Relations Officer; Comrade Olasunkanmi Ijaduoye, on Monday, August 20, 2018 in his office at Force Headquarters, Louis Edet House, Abuja.
In his speech, DIG Inyang praised the efforts put into the anti-social vices campaign by the leadership of NAPS. He agreed that NAPS has been a leading voice against social vices in various campuses, like rape, cyber crime, fraud, drug abuse, indecent dressing, kidnapping, cultism, examination malpractice amongst others.
He emphasised that the association is playing its part well and encouraged the leadership to never be deterred, giving assurance of the readiness and commitment of the police force to partnering with peacemakers.
In response, the Public Relations Officer, thanked DIG Inyang for recognising what he tagged as a widows mite from partners in progress.
Comrade Ijaduoye mentioned that the students’ body has always strived to ensure peace and sanity in the nation, especially in areas where students live in. He made it known that the leadershipis planning for a National Event tagged Students Against Violence Everywhere which will come up by November 28th at Woman Development Center Opposite Central Bank of Nigeria Abuja.
Where the student leaders from various institutions will be represented and honour will be bestow on personalities that has contributed meanfully towards peaceful coexistence on campuses. The NAPS Public Relations Officer later highlight the aims and objectives of the said event:
Sensitisation of students on implications of violence.
Building a strong students intellectual immune system against violence
Serving as agents in down thronging violence in students community.
To assist in breeding leaders who are worthy in learning and character.
To challenge students security consciousness.
To lunch a campaign against cultism.
To preach against indecent social vices like Cyber Crime, Female Harrasement, Drug Abuse, Examination Malpractice  etc on our campuses .
To enlighten Nigeria student leaders of good leadership skills
To engage students in a positive production at their leisure time
To identify and pin point problems facing the development of the education sector
To establish the possible ways of solving the identified problems without rancor
To uphold the unity and oneness of our dear association and Nigerian as nation
To sustain a wellbeing of Nigerian student under a conducive atmosphere of learning through a constructive debate, argument and agitation
DIG Inyang also used the opportunity of the courtesy visit to highlight the roles of the Training and Administration department of the police force and how they are working assiduously to keep training police officers in respect for human rights and the use of new methods that are deemed effective and modern.
The DIG also called well-meaning Nigerians to support the upcoming event of the association tagged SAVE- Students Against Violence Everywhere, scheduled to hold at the Human Development Centre, opposite CBN office, Abuja. DIG Emmanuel Inyang enjoins the general public to be part of such a security conscious platform, especially because it is organized by the youths who are most vulnerable to committing crimes.
