Gbolahan Oyedemi, Deputy Commissioner of Police serving with the Force Criminal Investigation Department, Alagbon, Lagos State, reportedly committed suicide in his private house in his hometown, Ogbomoso, Oyo State.
Oyedemi, who previously served as the Aide de Camp to the late former Governor of the state, Adebayo Alao-Akala, during his tenure in 2006, was found hanging in his house on Monday.
According to a source close to the family, Oyedemi, who usually visited his hometown during Easter celebrations, had instructed his aides to go to their respective towns to celebrate with their families over the weekend.

The circumstances surrounding his death remain unclear at the time of filling this report.
However, the Police Public Relations Officer of FCID, Alagbon, DSP Eguaoje Funmilayo, confirmed Oyedemi’s death, stating that investigations were ongoing to ascertain the cause.
“No one can tell specifically what the cause of his death is until an investigation is carried out. There is no official statement from the Inspector General of Police yet”, Funmilayo stated.
“We must deny these groups the undue publicity they crave,” the minister said.
