Police begin probe into death of 54-year-old woman in Ondo

Police from Ondo Command has begun investigation into the death of a 54-year-old woman, Olakunbi Adene who was reportedly hacked to death in her room some four days after celebrating her birthday.

The lifeless body of the woman was discovered on Sunday afternoon when she did not come out from her rented apartment in Oda area of the Akure, the state capital.

It was gathered that the lifeless body of the popular caterer in the state and CEO of Country Kitchen who was hale and hearty with no sign of illness on Saturday night was found in her pool of blood.

A source who pleaded anonymity, said the deceased, a mother of two was sent to her early grave by the yet-to-be identified killers who left no traces.

The source said “Five days ago, she marked her 54th birthday, during which she entertained visitors in her residence and served assorted wine and drinks.

“The deceased who was a social media enthusiast, posted many of her pictures on Facebook, while there were several comments from family and friends, congratulating her, only to find her dead, some days after.”

Speaking, the deceased’s husband, Dele Adene said the news of his wife’s demise came as a rude shock and said:”I was told that my wife’s corpse was found on her bed in a pool of blood which showed she was hacked to death.

“I cannot believe that no arrests have been made up till the moment of talking to you. I feel suspects should have been arrested.

“Her phone should be tracked and I don’t know how dwellers in the building did not know such thing happened in a house with four flats apartment.”

Also speaking, the deceased’s daughter , Tejumade said she was informed about her mother’s death by the caretaker of the house.

She said her mother was found in her pool of blood and said “I came back from the church and was trying her line, but it was switched off.

“I later received a call from my mother’s brother who called to inform me that my mother had been killed.”

The remains of the deceased had been deposited at the mortuary in Akure.

The State Police Public Relations Officer, (PPRO) Funmi Odunlami who confirmed the death of the late woman said the incident was reported at the police station.

She said men of the command had swung into action assuring that the perpetrators would be brought to book.

“I am aware of the incident, and an investigation is currently ongoing,” she stated.
