The police authorities in Ondo State have arrested two prime suspects in the killing of a 62-year-old retired teacher, Mrs Sidikat Adamolekun, who found blood in her pool in her house.
Adamolekun was found murdered in her Agbaluku Arigidi Akoko residence in the Akoko North West local government area of the state.
A police investigation led to the arrest of an 18-year-old prime suspect simply identified as Mubarak, who made away with the victim’s cell phone worth N80,000.
The young boy, who was said to be one of the sons of the domestic help to the victim, was apprehended with the cell phone, leading to the arrest of one other accomplice, Rildwan.
According to a family source, the lifeless body of the retired teacher was last week found in a pool of her blood inside her room by one of her granddaughters who returned from school.
Mubarak reportedly named another suspect, Rildwan, aged 20, as his accomplice, and the two suspects were taken to the crime scene at the Similoluwa area of Agbaluku Arigidi Akoko, where they demonstrated how they scaled the fence.
It was learned that Mubarak, the son of a casual housekeeper and cleaner, led his accomplice to the house by scaling the fence.
He confessed to knowing his way into every part of the house after accompanying his mother to the house to work for many months, while the mother of the suspect, Oluwaseun, was also arrested
According to a police source, “the two suspects disclosed that they scaled the fence and did not go through the main gate to avoid being seen.
“Having gained entry, they went straight to the deceased room, where she was lying on her bed after taking her birth.
“They confessed that they used a wooden box to shatter her head while the second suspect strangulated her.
“The mother of one of the suspects is a casual housekeeper and cleaner for the late Mrs Adamolekun. At times, she would come to work with the suspect.”
He said the case has been transferred to police headquarters in Akure for further investigation.
