Police arrest two Lagos traffic robbers

Two members of a eight-man traffic robbery gang were over the weekend arrested by the operatives  of the Lagos State Police Command.

The suspects,  Adura Babatunde  and Tunde Omose, were arrested by the operatives of the Ijora Badia Divisional Police Station during an attempt by members of the gang to unleash mayhem on residents of Orile Iganmu.

The spokesperson of the state police command, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the arrest of the two suspects to Tribune Online.

The Lagos State Police spokesperson also added that the police were on the trail of other members of the gang, who escaped from the scene .

SP Hundeyin stated that the arrested armed robbers and others have been identified as responsible for traffic robbery around Orile Iganmu and its environs.

According to Hundeyin, the police received information that the hoodlums had gathered around Pallet bus stop in preparation to cause damage in the area. 

Hundeyin said, “The informant said they were brandishing dangerous weapons, such as machetes, broken bottles, sticks, and Jack knife, with the intention of dispossessing innocent members of the public of their valuables inside the traffic in the area.

“A team of operatives from Ijora Badia Division immediately went after the suspects. In the process, the two suspects,  Adura Babatunde,  28 years old, and Tunde Omose, 20 years of no fixed addresses were arrested.” 

He also continued that “They were also positively identified by victims they robbed sometime in December, 2023. Investigation into their case has  begun.”
