The Nigerian Police Force, Sokoto State Command, has confirmed the arrest of two suspects for alleged vandalism and motorcycle theft within the state.
The suspects, identified as Imrana Umar, a resident of Minanata Area, and Isah Usman, also known as “Man,” from Makera Asada Area, Sokoto, were apprehended in connection with separate criminal activities.
In a statement issued on Friday by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Ahmed Rufai, it was revealed that both suspects were arrested following distress calls from concerned members of the community.
The statement detailed that on January 13, 2025, at about 6:00 PM, the Command’s Strike Force received a distress call from residents of the Diplomat Area in Sokoto. The call reported that a suspected thief, identified as Imrana Umar, was being attacked by an angry mob and was at risk of being lynched. The Strike Force immediately intervened, rescuing Umar from the mob.
Upon interrogation, Umar confessed to criminally trespassing into the home of one Abdulhamid Muhammad and stealing his TVS motorcycle.

In another incident, the Vigilante Group of Kofar Kware Area alerted the Strike Force Unit to the interception of a suspect, identified as Isah Usman, in possession of stolen property. The suspect was found with four ceiling fans and several pieces of electric wires.
Further investigation revealed that Usman had stolen the items from Hafsatu Girls Secondary School and Ila’il Academy in Arkilla. He admitted to planning to sell the stolen goods to one Yunusa, a resident of Kuffa Area, who is currently at large. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fugitive.
DSP Rufai assured the public that both suspects would be charged to court for prosecution once investigations are concluded.
The Sokoto State Police Command reiterated its commitment to ensuring the safety and security of residents and urged the public to continue cooperating with law enforcement agencies by providing timely and accurate information on criminal activities.
