Police arrest three suspected kidnappers in Bauchi

Three suspected kidnappers have been arrested in Bauchi through a joint operation by Zone 12 Police Command Command and members of a vigilante group in the metropolis.

The Zonal Police Public Relations Officer (ZPPRO), SP Thomas Goni, said that the suspects were arrested in the process of taking away their victim at the Wayar Makafi area within the Bauchi metropolis.

The ZPPRO on Thursday named the suspects Al-Amin Umar Yusuf 38; Mubarak Yahaya Dan Bakwai, 27 and Sadiq Adamu 21, all of Waya Makafi area of the metropolis.

He said that the suspected kidnappers stormed the residence of their victim, one Alhaji Yakubu Iliyasu, a resident of Waya Makafi and abducted him demanding an undisclosed amount of money from their victim before whisking him away.

He also said that luck ran against the suspects when they were accosted by members of a vigilante working in the area saying, “I can confirm to you the arrest of three suspected kidnappers. They are in our custody.”

“Members of vigilante group working in that area arrested them before the Police came. The Police came in to reinforce the vigilante. They said they need money from their victim. They were arrested in the process of taking away their victim,” Goni informed.

He further said that the Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) in charge of Zone 12, Audu Adamu Madaki, had ordered a discreet investigation into the case, adding that they would be charged to court for prosecution after completion of the investigation.

Thomas Goni assured that the Police personnel in the Zone will continue to work assiduously in protecting the lives and properties of citizens calling for cooperation and support through volunteering of information to help the Police in the discharge of its constitutional duties.
