Police arrest three suspected armed robbers in Niger

The Niger State Police Command has arrested three suspected notorious armed robbers, including an ex-convict in Minna over an allegation of plans to burgle a shop.

Indication of these effects emerged on Monday, following a press statement issued and made available to journalists in Minna by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Command, SP Wasiu Abiodun, highlighting that in a continuous effort of the Niger State Police Command to stem the tide of crime and criminality in the State, the suspects were arrested.

Abiodun stated further that the following arrests were made: on 4/01/2025 at about 6 pm, based on credible intelligence received, stressing that Police operatives attached to Tudun-Wada Div arrested three suspected notorious armed robbers and burglars who are: namely: Jibrin Ndako 19 years of Barikin-Sale, Haruna Abubakar 20 years of Angwan-Kamfani and Aliyu Abdullahi 18 years of Kpakungu, Minna

He further noted that the suspects were arrested in a hotel along Eastern Bye-Pass, Minna where they lodged in a room and they were said to have been found with dangerous weapons three cutlasses and one industrial iron cutter.

According, to the PPRO, “During interrogation, the first suspect, Jibrin Ndako who had just returned from a jail term for the offence of theft of motorcycles, narrated that he met his accomplices from Agaie and brought them to Minna to join him in breaking a targeted provision store located at Barikin-Sale Minna before their arrest by the Police.”

He, however, assured that the suspects have been transferred to State Police Headquarters, Minna for further investigation and diligent prosecution.
