Three students of the School of Health and Technology, Akure, Ondo State have been arrested by men of the State Police Command over alleged gang rape of a female student of the institution.
According to the victim who explained that she visited her boyfriend but had to wait for her boyfriend in his room when the three suspects swooped on her and raped her in turn.
She said the three young men who she identified as Aderoboye Damilola, Eyitayo Charles and Blessing Michael, invaded her boyfriend’s room and threatened her with dangerous weapons before they raped her.
The victim, a first-year student of the institution, said the three suspects overpowered her and forcefully had their way while they threatened to upload the video of the rape incident on social media if she dares report the incident.
She said, ” I decided to speak out because I don’t want to live with the trauma forever and I had to confide in a friend who encouraged me to inform the security agents.”
Narrating her ordeal, she said “I visited my boyfriend who I met his absence but I was surprised when they entered the room and ordered me to remove my dress, which I resisted but they brought out some weapons.

“I pleaded with them but it went on their deaf ears and they asked one of them to undress me and pinned me on the bed and they raped me one after the other.
“They even threatened to upload the recordings of the escapade on social media if I report the incident. But I could not keep the trauma to myself and I have to tell one of my friends who reported the incident to the police and they were tracked and arrested.”
She explained that “though one of them, (Eyitayo) once asked me out but I declined his request and I am surprised with their action. I have to speak out because I cannot keep it to myself and I really want justice. They only took advantage of me because they believe I won’t be able to face the world that I was raped”
The Dean of Student Affairs (DSA) of the school, Tunde Ogunro who confirmed the rape incident said the incident has not been reported to the school authorities.
He said, “although the case has not been reported to the school officially, it is true that some students from the school were arrested by the police.
“We are aware that the police have started their investigations on the case (rape) and they have promised to get back to us. We cannot set up any disciplinary committee to look into the matter until the outcome of their (police) reports or investigation.”
The State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Femi Joseph, who also confirmed the incident said the three students had been arrested while the command had begun investigation into the matter.
Joseph said, ” We have commenced investigations into the matter, and after the investigation, the suspect would be charged to court.”
