Police arrest suspected killers of Oyo perm sec, Olaniyan, 34 others

Five suspected killers of a 68 year old  retired Permanent Secretary in the Oyo State civil service, identifies as Mrs Olaitan Omotola Gbenle and 30 others have been arrested for various crimes in Oyo state.

The suspects also include ritualists who were caught with a fresh human head in Saki area of the state.

The Commissioner of Police, Adebola Hamzat paraded the suspects before the newsmen at the Command Headquarter, Eleyele, Ibadan on Wednesday.

CP Hamzat who reiterated the commitment of the Command  to zero tolerance for crimes and criminalities disclosed that the suspected killers of Late Gbenle strangulated her to death after dispossessing her of valuables.

The stolen but recovered valuables as disclosed by the Police  include, Toyota Camry, Toyota Corolla cars and electricity power generating set.

The suspects, according to the Police report voluntarily confessed to the crime while the leader of the suspected criminal gang explained that the victim was murdered because he realized the deceased saw him during the armed robbery operation.

In his confessional statement, the suspect said, this is my second term of taking part in the robbery operation. I lived in the same neighborhood with the deceased in Apata area of Ibadan.

We strangled her to death, knowing fully well that she recognized me during the operation as one of her neighbours. The fear of possible arrest by the security operatives made us take the decision.

“We sold the two vehicles out, (Toyota Camry and Toyota Corolla) for N4m out of which we were paid only N2m before the Police swooped on us.

“My own share of the money was N200,000 only.

In a related development, the Police have confirmed the arrest of suspected ritualist with fresh human head

The suspects who were arrested in Saki area of Oyo state are alleged to specialise in using human head and other vital organs for ritual purposes.

One Human Head cut off from a freshly exhumed Corpse and a local pot containing some concoctions were recovered from the possession of the suspected ritualists during the arrest.

Items recovered as exhibits from the paraded suspects include: 18 cars, one DAF trailer, two thousand, one hundred and thirty-seven cartons of Maggi valued N18m, one electricity generating set, four live cartridges, sixty-four different expensive mobile phones, one master key and cash sum of eight hundred and twenty thousand naira.
