Police arrest man, 20, for alleged rape of 10-year-old girl in Osun

Authorities of the Osun State Police Command have arrested a 20-year-old man, identified as Abdulateef for allegedly defiling a 10-year old girl.

He was said to have raped the innocent girl (name withheld) last Thursday around Isale AlfaStreet, Okinni area, in Osogbo, the state capital.

A credible source informed the Nigerian Tribune that the distraught mother of the girl reported the incident to the Divisional Headquarters of Dada Estate Police station.

Police detectives visited the scene and arrested the suspect, who was later moved to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation.

The defiled girl had been taken to Police Clinic, located at Oke-Fia in Osogbo for medical treatment.

When contacted on Sunday, the Police Public Relations Relations Officer (PPRO) of Osun State Police Command, Mrs Yemisi Opalola confirmed the incident, saying an investigation was already ongoing.
