The police on Monday arraigned a 35 year-old man, Kazeem Raimi, in an Osogbo Magistrates’ Court over alleged theft of a motorcycle
Raimi is facing a two-count charge of theft and unlawful possession.
The Prosecutor, Sgt. Rasak Olaiwola, told the court that the accused committed the offence on Jan. 13 at about 6:00 p.m. at Olaiya area of Osogbo.
Olaiwola said the accused stole a Bajag motorcycle with registration number SSU 606 QB belonging to one Aluko Dotun.
He told the court that the police arrested the accused person with the stolen property, adding that the offence contravened Sections 390(9) and 135(2) of the Criminal Code Cap 34 vol.11 laws of Osun, 2003.
Raimi, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Mr Najite Okobie, the counsel to Raimi, filed an oral application praying the magistrate to grant his client bail in the most liberal terms.
The application was not objected to by the prosecuting officer.
The Magistrate, Aluko Olusola , granted the accused bail in the sum of N50,000 and two sureties in like sum.
The magistrate also said the sureties must reside in Osogbo and must provide evidence of tax payments and two passport size photographs attached with an affidavit of means.
The case was adjourned till June 6 for mention.
