THE police in Osun, on Wednesday, arraigned a 32-year-old man, Adekola Jabar, in Osogbo for alleged arson.
Jabar, whose address was not provided, is facing a 16-count charge bordering on arson, the offence, to which he pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Insp Olusegun Elisha, told the court that the defendant committed the offence with some other persons still at large on Aug. 24, 2018, at 10:30 a.m. at Iwo in Osun.
Elisha said the defendant set ablaze the Iwo police office, living quarters and four petrol vehicles, the value of which were yet to be ascertained.
The prosecutor said the defendant also stole some police uniforms, jean trousers, T-shirts, one LG TV set, school certificates, one Tiger generating set, two mattresses, two pairs of shoes and the sum of N23, 000.

He said the stolen items belonged to SP Olukoji Julius and Insp Ayanwale Caleb.
Elisha said the offence contravened Sections 69(70), 516, 71, 443, 451, 356, 383(1) and 390(9) of the Criminal Law of Osun, 2002.
The Defence Counsel, Mr Allo Emmanuel, prayed the court to grant his client bail in the most liberal terms.
The magistrate Mrs Olubunmi Ajanaku, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N250, 000 with two sureties in the like sum.
Ajanaku said the sureties must reside within the court’s jurisdiction with evidence of tax payments to the Osun Government.
The case was adjourned to June 27 for mention.
