Plateau LG poll: APC calls for investigation into supporter’s death

The All Progressives Congress in Plateau State has called for an investigation into the killing of one of its supporters in Ward one of Mangu, Mangu local government area of the state, during the local government elections on Wednesday.

The party, in a statement signed by its acting publicity secretary, Mr. Shittu Bamaiyi, said the young man Sunusi Yahuza Mohammed was allegedly killed and one other person shot at in broad daylight while trying to defend the ballot box from being taken away.

It expressed surprise that life could be taken out of a person who came to exercise his civic right, just because some unpopular candidates wanted to win elections at all costs.

The statement reads in part, “The incident at Mangu Ward one is unacceptable, and as such, the party cannot fold its arms and watch its supporters being harassed and intimidated by anybody, no matter how highly placed.

“The APC therefore calls for a full investigation into the murder of Mallam Sunusi Mohammed in order to identify persons behind the inhumane act.”

It also sympathised with the family of the deceased and also called on the people of the area to remain calm, as everything is being done to fish out those involved in the dastardly act.
