Plateau building collapse, monumental tragedy — Presidential Aide

The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Student Engagement, Hon. Sunday Asefon, has commiserated with the government and people of Plateau over the tragic loss of 22 people, including students and staff of Saints Academy, Jos, in the building collapse on Friday.

The two-story school building, which is located in the Busa Buji community of Jos North LGA, collapsed on Friday while students and teachers were in classes for the third term examination.

Asefon, in a statement on Saturday in Abuja, said he was deeply saddened to learn about the incident, which led to the tragic loss of 22 people and 132 injuries, including students and staff of Saints Academy, a secondary and primary school located in the Busa-Buji community of Jos North Local Government Area.

He described the incident as a monumental tragedy and expressed his heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims “during this devastating time,” while also praying for the quick recovery of the injured.

“I am deeply saddened to learn of the tragic loss of 22 people and 132 injured, including students and staff of Saints Academy, a secondary and primary school located in the Busa-Buji community of Jos North Local Government Area, in the school building that collapsed yesterday.

“The loss of these young lives is a profound tragedy that touches us all.

“My thoughts and prayers are with the families of the victims, the injured, and the entire community as you navigate through this period of immense sorrow.

“May you find strength and solace in each other, and may the memories of those lost bring some measure of comfort. While praying for quick recovery of the injured, including those six in critical condition, we stand with you in grief and solidarity,” he stated.
