Plateau: Another two killed, over twenty farms destroyed by terrorists

 

•Attacks still persist despite government assurance — PIDAN

 

STILL reeling from the recent attacks on parts of the Bassa local government area of Plateau State, the rampaging terrorists killed two people on Wednesday and destroyed 20 farms belonging to various members of the troubled council.

This is just as the Plateau Initiative for Development and Advancement of Natives

(PIDAN) declared that attacks on communities in the state still persisted despite government assurance for safety of lives and property.

According to a source who spoke to Nigerian Tribune, three people were working on their farm at around 8:30 am when a group of terrorists who were hiding nearby suddenly attacked them, killing two of them and seriously injuring the third one, including one of the security personnel who had hurried to the scene to save the others.

In a statement signed by the National Publicity Secretary of the Irigwe Development Association (IDA), Joseph Chudu Yonkpa, three persons were ambushed by the Fulani militia at Teepe village while cutting a tree on their farm, adding that they were shot several times before the terrorists bolted away.

According to him, two of them identified as Adamu Bala, 35 years, and Gado Trra, 45 years died instantly; one survived with bullet injuries and is currently in one of the hospitals in the local government area.

He added that a military personnel sustained bullet injuries during the ambush, adding that the terrorists destroyed no fewer than twenty in the area before they disappeared into the nearby hills and mountains.

Speaking on the latest inci-dent, Mr Danjuma Auta, Secretary-General of the Plateau Initiative for Development and Advancement of Natives (PIDAN), said the recent attack was an indication that the terrorists are still lurking over Plateau communities, waiting for an opportunity to strike.

According to him, the identity of these terrorists is not hidden, and they are not faceless, adding that the natives had called them by their names and tribes several times because they know their identities, hence why they often call them by their tribes and names.
