An Afrocentric gospel artiste, Mr. Ojewande Olakunle has admonished Gospel musicians to focus on soul- winning and soul- lifting songs in a bid to help the body of Christ.

This was disclosed by the artiste in a chat with Saturday Tribune recently on the way forward for the Gospel Music in Nigeria.

Mr Kunle acknowledged that although modernity is the order of the day in every aspect of life including music, but emphasized that the spiritual content in Gospel songs should not be desecrated.

He added that gone are those days where Gospel songs were more like the pathway to become closer to God and consequently attract blessings there from.

The Gospel artiste pinpointed that it is not too late for all the Gospel artistes in Nigeria to re-trace their steps back to delivering gospel songs filled with the default spiritual ingredients and be a vessel of evangelism especially now that the country is in dire need of God’s intervention.

The musician, who is also a sociologist, Olakunle divulged that his concert known as Praise Panorama Music Concert was birthed due to passion to fulfil the calling into the full time Gospel music.

He added that his late mother’s influence was also an inspiring one to the birth of the concert.

“It was an impartation and laying of hands by my late mother to carry on the mandate of where she stops as a renowned female choir and song mistress in Baptist Church Itire Lagos, and that was what brought about the Praise Panorama Music Concert”.
