President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday, June 12, 2018, conferred the posthumous national honour on the presumed winner of June 12, 1993 election, Chief MKO Abiola, as Grand Commander of the Federal Republic (GCFR), and both the late human rights activist, Chief Gani Fawehinmi and Ambassador Babagana Kingibe, Abiola’s vice presidential candidate were also honoured with the title of the Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger (GCON).
