PHCDA sensitises Ekiti stakeholders on measles vaccination

Published by

The Ekiti State Primary Health Care Development Agency (SPHCDA) has commenced the sensitisation of stakeholders in the state towards the success of the 2024 Integrated Supplemental Measles Vaccination in the State.

The agency carried out the sensitisation through its Advocacy and Social Mobilisation Department.

The team carried the advocacy to the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), where it addressed stakeholders, including education secretaries of the 16 local government areas.

The visit coincided with the flag-off of the distribution of instructional materials to public basic schools in the state for the 2024/2025 academic session.

The health officials called for the support of all and sundry towards ensuring the massive turnout of children for immunisation.

The State Health Educator, Dr. Olajumoke Oguntoye, said that the target was to achieve 95% measles vaccination for eligible children to guarantee their healthy growth in the state.

She encouraged stakeholders, especially parents, to release their wards for the vaccination exercise towards securing the future of the children.

Oguntoye added that the agency would intensify the advocacy campaigns across the 16 local government areas in order to achieve the target for the vaccination.

Responding, the Chairman of the Education Secretaries in the State and Executive Secretary for Ado Local Government, Oluwatoyin Omotoso, commended the EKSPHCDA for its commitment to health care delivery through various interventions in the state.

He assured the team of the support of the stakeholders towards the successful conduct of the exercise.

In attendance at the meeting were Mrs. Akinyosoye, UNICEF Social Behaviour Change Consultant; Mrs Ajimati C.A., SYDANI Representative; Dr. Bamidele, W.H.O. Representative; and Mrs Daramola, Assistant State Health Educator (SPHCDA).
