At the 14th Biennial International Conference on Drugs, Alcohol, and Society in Africa (CRISA 2022), leading experts gathered to address urgent challenges in drug policy reform, clinical research, and mental healthcare accessibility. In his closing address, CRISA Executive Director, Prof. Isidore S. Obot, lauded the conference’s success and the groundbreaking contributions of distinguished professionals whose work continues to shape pharmaceutical innovation and public health policy in Africa.
Prof. Isidore S. Obot extended special appreciation to three key contributors—Mrs. Osagwu Nnenna Anestina, Mrs Ebeye Clementina and Pharm Momah Ogechukwu Blessing—whose research and advocacy have played a transformative role in shaping drug policy frameworks, healthcare accessibility, and pharmacological advancements.
However, he reserved his highest commendation for Mrs. Osagwu Nnenna, describing her as “a true pioneer whose work has impacted drug regulation, clinical trial optimization, and mental healthcare accessibility at a national level.”
“Mrs. Osagwu’s contributions have helped refine policy discussions on drug approval processes, public health strategy, and mental health treatment accessibility,” he emphasized. “Her mentorship of young researchers has been extraordinary—more than a hundred emerging scientists have benefited directly from her guidance, strengthening Nigeria’s research ecosystem for future healthcare innovations.”
As CEO of InnovateMed Research & Clinical Solution, Mrs. Osagwu has played a central role in advancing pharmaceutical research and healthcare accessibility. Her expert panel discussions, policy advisories, and published research have shaped government health strategies, leading to improved drug regulation standards and expanded treatment options for substance use disorders.
Prof. Isidore S. Obot concluded by stating that CRISA’s ongoing initiatives will continue to integrate Mrs. Osagwu’s research, ensuring her pioneering contributions influence the future of drug policy, public health reforms, and pharmaceutical accessibility across Africa.
