PFN holds holiday camp for children of inmates

Prison Fellowship Nigeria (PFN), Oyo state chapter has held its 2024 annual holiday camp for Children of inmates in Oyo state to reduce crime rates and poverty in the society.

The 2024 annual camp tagged “Discovering Me” is held between Thursday 22, August to Saturday, 24th of August 2024, at St Peters Catholic College, Apata, Ibadan.

The 3-day annual event is an initiative of Promise Path a subsidiary of Prison Fellowship Nigeria.

Activities during the annual camp include Bible lessons, games, sports, crafts among others were organised for the children.

Speaking National Coordinator, Promise Path, PFN, Mrs Tosin Olugbade explained that the annual event is held to reduce crime and poverty in the society.

Olugbade noted that the event is Organised for children of inmates in correctional centers across Oyo state.

She said the 2024 annual camp year’s theme “Discovering me “ is meant to teach the children of the inmates how to discover and showcase their talents in a bid to stop the circle of crimes in Oyo state and Nigeria at large.

She added that the initiative is Organised to help boost self-confidence of the children of inmates who might feel stigmatized because of the situation they found themselves.

Olugbade further stated that the organisation provides the children access to education, through payment of school fees, provision of stationaries, and other school items adding that other activities were as well organised to boost their morale and enable them to discover their hidden talents.

She, however, stated that the initiative will enable the children to give back to their environment in future when they might have become successful in their chosen careers.
