Published by

Chairman of Independent Petroleum Marketer Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), Chief Olufemi Adelaja, on Thursday, disclosed that the management of Petroleum Tanker Drivers (PTD) under the umbrella of Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas (NUPENG) has suspended loading of petroleum products from Mosimi to other outlets in Ogun State beginning from Thursday.

Adelaja made the disclosure in a release signed by the general secretary of IPMAN, Alhaji M.A. Sodiq which was made available to the Nigerian Tribune on Thursday.

According to IPMAN boss, when he and other executive members contacted PTD members, it was gathered that most of their trucks have been impounded by Customs and taken to soldiers’ barracks in Owode-Idiroko, while some are at Customs barracks, Idiroko in Lagos and Abeokuta.

It was also gathered that the trucks were impounded for disobeying the order by the Federal Government over the closure of the border by security operatives.

It will be recalled that the Federal Government closed the border in August last year and ordered the restriction of movement of petroleum product beyond 20 kilometers of its various borderland across Nigeria.

“We want our members to take note of this and also to assure them that necessary steps are ongoing between government and stakeholders to resolve the issue,” the release said.
