Perfect brows for your face shape

EYEBROWS are a major distinctive feature for face shapes. For makeup enthusiasts, the eyebrows provide definition for the general outline for the face shape, and as such drawing the brows should be done in a unique way reflective of the outline of a person’s face. There are as many brows as there are face shapes, if not more. As such, it is important for ladies to know which brows work best for their face shape. The first step is to determine your face shape.

Face shape types

Oval: For this face shape, the forehead is wider than the chin and the cheekbones are pronounced.

Round: The face is almost as wide as it is long, showing more width at the cheek area.

Long: For this face shape, the forehead, cheekbones and jawline vary along the same length. However, the chin is more prominent and the outline is extended.

Square: Here, the forehead, cheekbones and jawline are around the same size.

Heart: It has some semblance to the features of the oval face shape but the chin is more reduced here.

Diamond: As the name suggests, this face shape bothers on the angular. That is, it bears the features of a short forehead and a wider outline.

Types of brows

Brows are similar, however they are different. The common brows are straight, rounded, arched, steep arched and s-shaped or semi-arched.

How to get the perfect brows

Tools needed include: eyebrow pencil, brow filler, concealer and highlighting brush. The first step is to shape the eyebrows; then trace with the eyebrow pencil and fill in with the brow filler.  For the best shaped brows, use an eyebrow tracer. The highlighting brush is used to highlight the brows to make it attractive. It also works to reduce the look of the brows if they turn out bigger than expected.

P.S. If you choose to shape your eyebrows, choosing the right brow tracer will ease things and help with getting the perfect brows for your face shape.

8 weird tips about eyebrows

They’re designed to help us see

The real function of our brows is to keep moisture out of our eyes when it’s raining or when we sweat. That arched shape helps divert liquid to the side of our faces.

There’s a lot of hair in there!

According to the Bosley hair transplant company, the average person has about 250 hairs per eyebrow. However, some reports show that never-plucked brows can have as many as 1100 total hairs.

Brows have a lifespan

The average lifespan of an eyebrow is four months, meaning the time it takes for each hair to fall out and new growth to fill in.

They’re crucial for facial recognition

A study done by MIT found that people had more trouble correctly identifying the faces of people they knew when they were presented with images of them missing their eyebrows.

Brows are voice-controlled … kind of

As the pitch of your voice rises, so do your eyebrows and vice versa. Not only that but when you make an expression without thinking, like when you’re surprised, eyebrows move in a way that’s symmetrical to each other.

They give humans a special edge

We’re the only species that have eyebrows against bare skin — which, apparently, provides us with an evolutionary advantage because our expressions are easier for our fellow men and women to see and interpret.

We’re not the first to beautify our brows

Every culture and time period has had a different way of shaping their brows.

Your brows say more about you than you know

According to the book, Amazing Face Reading, by Mac Fuller, J.D., the type of eyebrow you have defines who you are. Curved eyebrows indicate someone who is people-oriented and needs real-world examples to understand a problem, while straight eyebrows imply that someone is more direct, factual, and logical, thriving on technical details. Angled eyebrows show someone who likes to be right and strives to be mentally in-control, no matter the situation.
